Remembering the True Meaning of Fear.

Wilson, my son, and I were talking this morning about business and what it takes to be successful. He is in the process of starting his own production company www.wilsonvesselyproductions.com

He has the same fears that we all have with starting a business and putting himself out there to the public. I was talking to him about the old salesman joke that you are going it get nine “no’s” before you get one “yes” so get out there early, get the “no’s” out of the way, so you have plenty of time left for your “yes.”

It is fear that holds us back from being all that we can be. Keep in mind that the “no” is NOT about you but that they do not in need to your service. We tend to take it personally, that there is something wrong with us, when in fact it has absolutely nothing to do with us!

When it really comes down to it don’t we just want to know if our service can help or not so that we can move forward?

When remembering that it is NOT about you, then nine “no’s” are like water off the ducks back.

And never give up the hope for ten “yes’s.” It can happen!

Good luck Wilson! I’m incredibly proud of you and the man you are. Thank you also for making my Forgetting 2 Remember Video, it has been a great hit!

Fear= False Evidence Appearing Real

Are We Selling Ourselves? Part 2

More to come….

The answer is yes!  If you don’t know the question then you need to refer back to the August 12, 2009 blog.

I have joined a wonderful networking group called Rainmakers, www.rainmakers.com.  I’m starting my day at a 7:30am breakfast networking event and it goes from there with different meeting and events to network Forgetting 2 Remember.

I have decided that I am going to approach this a bit differently than most do by asking, “who are you?”   versus, “ what do you do?”

We all get so wrapped up in what it is that we do that we can easily forget who we are.  Our identity becomes what we do!

Yes, I am here to network with others about F2R and to get the seminar out to the world but not at the cost of who I am or who they are.

Another look at the question and I think the answer is somewhere in the middle of yes and no.  Yes, we do need to promote ourself and  business but not at the cost of being inauthentic.

So away I go in all of my humanity and essence to sell  me and I walked away from this day fully understanding that being present to who I am and sharing that with the world is all the selling  that I had to do.

And….if you want to flip out the world the next time you meet someone ask them, “who are you?”

The First 100

It is hard for me to imagine that just a few short months ago Forgetting 2 Remember was born.

The labor has been intensive and the rewards have been beyond my wildest dreams.

The pregnancy, however, was many years in creation.  It’s birth at the perfect timing.

I love the way God, Source, Higher Power, The Universe, (what ever you choose to call it) is divine in allowing for our highest intentions to become all that we want.  Conceiving the idea, allowing for it’s growth and development, nourishing the seed with constant love and commitment, laboring for the many hours of pushing through the process to get to the final results.  A masterpiece.

Thanks to all of you that have labored with me, encouraged the process and supported the journey.

You have changed my life!  Cheers, to the next one hundred!

Much love and blessings,
Derinda

Face to face

This seems to be something that we as a society are getting further and further away from.  We text instead of call.  We e-mail invites and cards instead of going to the store, picking out something and adding a personal message to it.

We have an opportunity with the technology of today to communication and be in relationship with other people without ever uttering a word to them or spending a moment of  time  meeting face to face with them.  I feel that we are missing out on a huge experience of connection.

I just finished two days of training to be able to facilitate something special in the next, Forgetting 2 Remember, July Seminar.  In this group, twelve people were meeting for the first time all with the same goal in mind.   This facilitation training required eye contact and face to face communication.  I was shocked to see just how difficult this has become for people.

So in effort to bring about reconnection, what do we need to do?  How about call  instead of text or stop and meet eye to eye for conversation.  Sounds like a great start to me.  What do you think?

I’m sure, without a doubt, that much less misunderstanding in a  conversation or a relationship would take place  if we just simply went back to showing up as human beings meeting other human beings.

When all else fails, try humor!

Ok, I have tried everything else!

I have been in conversation with an editor of a local weekly publication.  He has shown interest in publishing a weekly column about self-awareness in his paper and ask me to send him a couple of “sample” columns. Which I did!  Like, that day!!!   Ok, so I wait and wait and wait to hear something back from him.  I know he is very busy but he must have an inkling about how important this is to me.  Doesn’t he?   Well, DOESN’T HE ?!! Ok, so I also know that he has to present my column to the  rest of the staff for their feedback too!  How long should that take?  Is 5 days waiting enough?  “No,” you say.  “Really,” I say?  Ok, so maybe I’m rushing the process a little BUT THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT!

I did decide to send him a small reminder today, you know, hey it’s me still:

Hi ,  Just looking for some feedback.  Are you interested, not interested, happy, sad, don’t know, need more info, want to meet me in person, want to see more work, just needed to know that I have a great sense of humor too?  You tell me.”

Hope your day is going great!

One bold thing a day, part two!

How far would you be willing

to go if you knew you could

not fail?

One bold thing a day!

This past Monday, June 6th, was the end of my  21 day challenge to do one bold thing a day.  It was so successful for me that I have decided to make it a part of my daily living.

I want to share with you just a few things that happened from taking that bold step each day;  new companies interested in networking with Forgetting 2 Remember.   A newspaper interested in writing a story about us.  Contact with lost family that this bold move has opened a line of communication.  A very successful launch weekend May 22-24.  New logo.  A great July 24-26Th weekend seminar well underway.  New staff for the weekend…….  (I could go on for 21 days but I think you can see the results)

This is never too late to make one bold move a day part of your life.  Once you step out of the box there is NO going back!  I’m hooked!

Living life out loud!

Ten minutes a day.

Life is hectic!  Everyone is busy and in so many different directions.  Burning the candle at both ends  has become the normal way of functioning.  But at what cost?

All I’m suggesting here in ten minutes!  To close your eyes and just breathe!  It is amazing what can change in just ten short minutes of stopping. Your blood pressure will drop, your heart rate will slow and even a sense of well-being can be achieved!

On the Forgetting 2 Remember weekend seminar we  also do a two word check-in.  Stopping to see what is going on inside yourself.  How are you feeling?  What is your stress level?  How are you coping?  How are you showing up to the people around you today?  Again, closing your eyes and thinking of two words that describe you at that moment.  That only take seconds  but might be enough for you to realize that to take ten minutes and re-group would be the most productive thing that you could do, not only for you but  for everyone!

Give it a try and see what changes for you?  Let me know!

Remembering re-found!

Just coming out of an incredible weekend of discovery, awareness, connection and love!  Other than the usual small glitch here and there the weekend was a huge success.  The participants growth and pushing forward exceeded all expections that I could have ever imagined.

A huge thank you to all that made this weekend possible behind the scenes, Mike (my husband and chef), Chelsey (step-daughter and chef), Jill (step-daughter and chef), Derek( blog-designer, photographer, staff helper and chef), Natalia ( my mom, set-up helper), Jessica ( participant, web-designer, photographer), Anna ( photographer, participant and my daughter), Wilson ( participant, tear-down helper and  my son) Jared (participant, tear-down helper and cheese cake lover).

And then the participants, Don, Lydia, Janette, Brooke, Norene, Kyle, Wendy, Georgjean, Anna, Wilson, and Jared.  Without you there would be no weekend, thank you for trusting me, the process, for having the courage to expand,  for sharing, and for helping to bridge the gap between fear and love.  You all are amazing!

#1 Forgetting 2 Remember Seminar

As we quickly approach this weekend and the first launching seminar of Forgetting 2 Remember I have notice a change in myself, a falling into place so to speak.

Years and thousands of hours have gone into its thought and creation of this venture.  And I suppose just like the bride before her wedding day there comes a time to stop, rest, enjoy, and let it all come into fruition.

That time is now.  The time where there is nothing more to do but becoming present to the gifts that this journey has already brought forth.

I’m going to relax now.  Spread the love and send intention to the weekends highest cause.  I’m looking forward to seeing all of you that are taking this first journey with me.  Thank you!

To the rest of you I hope to see you at the July 24-26  seminar. Happiness and peace to each of you!
