Fourty Thousand Thoughts a Day!

It has been said that we have 40,000 thoughts a day running through our mind and that 99% of those thoughts are repetitive!

What are you thinking about?

Just think about the results of that repetitive message that you are repeating to yourself everyday and how that message is playing out in your life.  If the  message to yourself is negative, well, guess what?  You are showing up in the light of that thought!

Think about what you are thinking about.

Dr Wayne Dyer has written a book titled; Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life.  I have not read this book yet but the title is interesting especially at 40,000 thoughts per day.

You are the creator of what you want in your life and with a switch in a single thought imagine what a difference that would make in your life!

Happy thinking!

Courage

“Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” – Orison Swett Marden 1850-1924
As I sit down this Sunday evening to share a thought with you, courage came to mind. Courage is what keeps us going in the middle of despair, catapults us into a higher realm of thinking or even helps us to stand strong for something very important to us.

Who is Orison Swett Marden? He was an American writer that was considered to be a part of the “New Thought Movement” in the late 1800’s. Marden believed that our thoughts influence our lives and our life circumstances. He said, “We make the world we live in and shape our own environment. The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.”

This was his subject of conversation in 1894, having the courage to look inside you for the answers.

If he was part of the “New Thought Movement” then what are we a part of?

This power of thinking goes far back beyond our great-great grandparents and I believe to the beginning of time. The new thought movement is not now or in 1894 but has always been. We simply forget.

We are the “gift” and all that we need is inside us. We are like onions and the more we experience in life the more layers we have until we get to the thin, dry sheet at the end.

Courage is taking off that outer cover and peeling back until we find who we are and rediscovering our core. When you get to the center of your soul then, as Orison so beautifully said in 1894, success is about the courage to endure.

What do you think?

It’s our choice.

You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call “failure” is not falling down, but staying down. -Mary Pickford

We hear it over and over again.  Choice.

We create from our thoughts and we choose the thoughts.

If we are to manifest change then we must change our message.  It is our choice.

Whether what we do in life is a failure or success depends on our thinking and the message we create from that conversation.  Again, it is our choice.

If we fall down and choose to stay down or stand and begin again is in a choice that we make.  Think about all of the choices that you make everyday and are they coming from a place of fear or of love?  Why?  Are your choices best serving you?  A conversation about choices is a great start to making different choices.

I was reminded  in a message I received today that “thoughts become things so choose the good ones!”

Have a happy day full of wonderful creative choices!

Feedback, comments and suggestions

Do you welcome those things in your life?   Does opening yourself up to others thoughts and ideas bring up fear?  For many it does.  We take it personally.  We think that it is about us and forget that the feedback, comments and suggestions are for us not about us.  We have the opportunity to learn, accept or reject anything that come from that conversation.

If for some reason the feedback you are getting feels hurtful that is because you already had that place of pain inside you and it is being hit.  Can you stand back and see the bigger picture of the suggestion or idea?  Can you see that it is not about you?  Instead someone’s idea or opinion of how something could be different or better.  From that view great discovery can be found.  Changes can be made or you might even find a greater commitment  and confidence to your own ideas.

I welcome your comments, suggestions, ideas, thoughts and  feedback always.  Let me know what you think.  I look forward to the conversation that open, honest communication provides!

Greener Grass

How many times have we stood by the fence thinking the grass is greener over there.

“They have it better than us,  they are more accomplished , their lives are so perfect!”   “If I could just have the opportunities that they have had then I could be that great too!”

The interesting thing about that minds story, is that their minds story is the same.  We all think the grass is greener on the other side.  But let’s face it, it all still has to be mowed.

On-going transformation

We think that we have to “get it” the first time and we easily become frustrated when we keep experiencing the same thoughts, relationships, jobs, people, etc.

Transformation is an act, process or instance of transforming or being transformed.  For most of us it is a process.  A life long process of changing and growing.

Every once in awhile there will be that one instance so profound that the transformation from it will last the rest of your life.  But most are less obvious and easy to miss if we are not paying attention.

What did you do today differently than you did last year, last week, even yesterday?  Did you change a thought?  Did you react to disappointment or loss from a different awareness?  Did you love more deeply today for humanity?  Did you dance when you use to sit it out?

Transformation!  Look for it in your life and be grateful for your growth and awareness no matter how small.  Acknowledge in yourself the ability to continue changing the conditions of yourself.

What five things can you find to acknowledge transformation in your life?

Thinking from a different outlook.

Thinking!  Sometimes I think we think too much!  Always trying to figure everything out before it even happens.  What’s is going to be like?  What are we going to do?   What if?  What if not?

None of this pre-thought in trying to understand what might be coming will ever take the place of the actually present moment.  We just create alot of suffering by having to continually try to stay ahead of life.  Because most of the thoughts are not real but the story of how we think or want it to look, feel or sound.  And  then so often when the real moment shows up we are disappointed because it did not happen as we had planned.  I love the quote from Mark Twain: ” I have led a long and terrible life, most of which never happened.”

Try not  to pre-live your life but to be openly aware of the gifts that the present moment has to give.  Show up in awe to each day, to each gift.  Look for what happens from this place of living.
